Cooperstown

Since 1999 Twinsburg has been privileged to send one 10U and one 12U baseball team to historic Cooperstown, New York to play great baseball. It is here that the players, coaches and families get to experience the game in a way that inspires dreams.

Why Cooperstown?

Cooperstown is a village in Otsego County, New York. Most of the village lies inside the town of Otsego, but part is inside the town of Middlefield. It is best known as the the place where baseball began, and the home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. In more recent years, over 1,000 youth baseball teams descend on Cooperstown every summer to participate in some of the largest baseball tournaments in the country. Since the 1999 opening of the Cooperstown Dreams Park facility, Twinsburg Tigers have been able to send a 10U and 12U travel baseball team to this historic baseball town to participate in one of youth baseball’s most competitive and most celebrated tournaments.

The Chance of a Lifetime

Cooperstown Dreams Park is one of several baseball parks in Cooperstown where national title baseball tournaments are held. 96 teams from all 50 states and Canada converge on this venue every week of summer. The 12U team will be competing in the Cooperstown Dreams Park tournament from July 17-23. This is the team’s second and final trip to the highly touted tournament in this historic baseball village. Ask anyone who has been there and they will tell you it is a week of fantastic baseball.

Dreams Park management takes pride in keeping the tradition of America’s game in its purest form. While holding to those traditions Cooperstown Dreams Park designs its events to inspire the youth of America. It offers every player a chance to succeed, to savor their moment in the spotlight and to feel the excitement of success. Many coaches and parents have described their week at Dreams Park as the highlight of their child’s life. It is that spirit that has made Cooperstown Dreams Park the "Crown Jewel of Youth Baseball."

Though the park promotes the integrity of the game as well as a healthy spirit of competition, the week is not just about a national title baseball tournament. The Cooperstown Dreams Park experience is also about traditions, values, families, and a certain cultural life enrichment that only a park like this can offer. Every year, some 1,152 teams come together for pin trading, orientation, eating together, skills competitions, and the excitement of the tournament. The players and coaches, along with family and friends, have one dream– to experience and appreciate the purity of the game. For one week they will enjoy the chance of a lifetime and get to play baseball where it all began.

Moments after the boys find their bunks, they are pin trading and meeting players from around the country. The opening ceremony on Saturday is the official kick-off to the tournament. One can feel the energy, excitement and anticipation of life enrichment that is about to begin. As the competition builds, 22 fields come to life with home runs, diving catches and heroic saves. The park works hard at giving the players reasons to be inspired and at planting the seeds for even bigger dreams. In a closing ceremony before the final game, each player receives the coveted Hall of Fame Ring and is inducted into the prestigious Youth Baseball Hall of Fame. This leaves every player with a great sense of pride, dignity and accomplishment. Cooperstown Dreams Park succeeds because the people who run the park are driven by a love for the game and the promotion of the traditional values like hard work, sportsmanship, faith, family and country.
