11U Travel Leage 2009 The 2010 12U Travel Baseball team is assembled and it is, once again, an awesome pool of talent. Most of the the 12U Tiger roster has been playing travel baseball together since the 9U team was assembled in 2007. This formidable team gets tougher every year due to quality talent, exceptional coaching and strong families who support the team. The team has been a dominant force in Great Lakes Baseball League (GLBL) since the team formed and this year will be no different.

City Team vs. Club Team

This is a is a city team. A player must live in Twinsburg to try out for Twinsburg’s travel league teams. Club teams usually practice all year and pull talent from many cities and even across state lines. While most city teams have a few studs, it unusual to find such a solid core of calibered young athletes in a city the size of Twinsburg. The team participates in many tournaments and is always fiercely competitive with club teams. Even more amazing is that each of these high level baseball athletes lives within a 5 mile radius of each other! This says a lot about the team– the players, the coaches, the families and the community. And maybe the drinking water.

Fact: Nobody likes to lose.

The great coach Vince Lombardi said, “Winning is not everything– but making the effort to win is.” Under the leadership of Ed Govang, the 12U coaches work hard with the team to make this effort. These coaches are excellent at recognizing, then cultivating, the boys’ individual strengths. It is one of the many ways that the team is able to reach it’s collective potential, and thus win games. The coaches commitment to the team and a love for the sport, combined with a healthy spirit of competition, motivate these men to develop the exceptionally talented youth on the 12U team.

Practice

Practice began in January. Indoor training facilities used in the past have included Twinsburg’s Fitness Center, The Edge, and Xtra Innings. Most 2010 season indoor practices will be in a new custom training facility in Twinsburg. We share this space with 3 other Twinsburg Travel teams. The Tigers will also secure the services of outstanding pitching coach Rich Conklin, who worked with each boy on pitching last season.

Cooperstown 2010

The team will be competing in the Cooperstown Dreams Park tournament from July 17-23. This is the team’s second and final trip to the national baseball tournament in the historic baseball village. The Dreams Park venue offers a great experience for baseball teams. See the Cooperstown link for more information.

There is a substantial entry fee for Cooperstown so the team needs donations and sponsors. This travel baseball team is successful for many reasons, but one key reason is the financial support they receive from the Twinsburg community and families and friends across the country. The investment in time and money for the 2010 season will reward these 11 youth athletes in ways we cannot comprehend today. Please consider sponsorship or even a simple donation. Checks need to be made payable to Twinsburg Baseball League, Inc. and sent to 3835 Nautilus Trail, Aurora, Ohio 44202. Also note on the check that it is for 2010 12U Tigers Travel Team. See the Sponsor link for more information.

We are looking forward to an awesome and competitive 2010 season! The team loves to win and is a treat to watch. Come out to enjoy a few games. You’ll be watching baseball being played in it’s purest form.
